Defending champions, Senegal were held to a 1–1 draw by Congo in their African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group D clash at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on Tuesday.
Congo struck first in the 19th minute when Charles Atipo’s cross was met by Dechan Moussavou, whose composed finish put the Leopards ahead.
Senegal struggled to respond in the first half but grew into the game after the break, with substitutions adding pace and creativity.
Their persistence paid off in the 82nd minute as Joseph Layousse capitalised on a loose ball from an Ousseynou Seck corner to fire home the equaliser.
The draw keeps Senegal top of the group on four points, while Congo move to two and maintain their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage.
