Serie A: Milan topples Napoli, Roma wins, Lecce snatches late draw

Serie A delivered a dramatic round of fixtures on Sunday, with late goals, red cards, and standout individual displays shaping the storylines across Italy.

At San Siro, AC Milan edged Napoli 2-1 in a tense encounter to climb to the top of the table. Christian Pulisic was the difference-maker, assisting Alexis Saelemaekers’ opener before scoring Milan’s second himself.

Napoli pulled one back from the penalty spot through Kevin De Bruyne after Pervis Estupiñán was sent off, but the Rossoneri’s resilience saw them hold firm with ten men. The victory places Milan level at the summit on 12 points.

Roma also made a strong statement in their 2-0 win over Hellas Verona. Artem Dovbyk set the tone with a well-taken header inside the opening ten minutes, and substitute Matías Soulé sealed the victory late in the second half.

Verona had chances, including a stoppage-time equaliser ruled out by VAR, but the Giallorossi proved too composed, keeping pace with the leaders.

Elsewhere, Fiorentina were frustrated in a goalless draw away to Pisa. Despite enjoying possession and carving out half-chances, the Viola were unable to break down a disciplined home side. The result leaves Fiorentina with work to do in their bid to push for the top four.

In Reggio Emilia, Sassuolo recorded a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Udinese. Backed by their home crowd, the Neroverdi capitalised on defensive lapses from the visitors to claim all three points, easing early-season pressure and climbing up the standings.

Meanwhile, at the Via del Mare, Lecce and Bologna played out a gripping 2-2 draw. Bologna twice took the lead, but Lecce refused to fold. The highlight came deep into stoppage time when 17-year-old Francesco Camarda scored his first Serie A goal, heading home a dramatic equaliser to rescue a point and spark wild celebrations.

The weekend’s results leave Milan, Roma, and Napoli locked in a tight battle at the top of the table, with Inter and Juventus lurking just behind.
