Serie A has postponed all league matches slated for Monday, April 21, 2025, following the death of Pope Francis.
The leader of the Catholic Church worldwide died at his residence – the Vatican Casa Santa Marta on Easter Monday.
Serie A, in a statement via its official X page, announced that all matches billed for today have been postponed, and a new date will be announced for the fixtures.
Following the passing of His Holiness, Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A can confirm that today’s league games in Serie A and Primavera 1 have been postponed. The date of the rearranged fixtures will be announced in due course.
Pope Francis was born on 17 December 1976 in Flores, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio and assumed the role of Pope of the Catholic Church on 13 March 2013 as the 11th non-European Pope of the church.
The death of the head of the Catholic Church comes weeks after he was discharged from the hospital after battling with a life-threatening case of pneumonia in both lungs.
