Roma also claimed a vital 2-1 win, coming from behind to defeat winless Fiorentina with goals from Matias Soule and Bryan Cristante.
In the day’s main event, Juventus and AC Milan played out a tense 0-0 draw, preventing Milan from joining the title race leaders ahead of the international break.
Elsewhere, Bologna delivered the most emphatic result of the day, crushing Pisa 4-0. The match was notable for the Serie A debut of Louis Buffon, son of legend Gianluigi Buffon, for the losing side. The day was rounded off by a 1-1 draw between Udinese and Cagliari.
