Shannon Sharpe denies sexual assault, calls lawsuit a shakedown

Shannon Sharpe, the former NFL star and current ESPN analyst, has issued a strong denial in response to a $50 million civil lawsuit filed against him in Nevada.

The lawsuit, brought by a woman identified as Jane Doe, alleges that Sharpe sexually assaulted her during their two-year relationship, which began in 2023 when she was 22 and he was 56.

The plaintiff claims that Sharpe manipulated and controlled her, threatened physical violence, and ignored her refusals during the alleged assaults.

In a statement released through his attorney, Lanny J. Davis, Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct, labeling the claims as a “gross lie” and an attempt at blackmail.

Davis asserts that the relationship was consensual and included role-playing and explicit communication initiated by the woman.

The lawsuit also includes a recording allegedly capturing Sharpe threatening to choke the woman. Sharpe’s legal team contends that the audio was taken out of context and was a reaction to false accusations, unrelated to sexual activity.

They have challenged the authenticity of the recording and have called for the full version to be released for expert analysis.

Sharpe has publicly responded to the allegations on social media, describing the lawsuit as a “shakedown” and expressing his intent to sue for defamation.

He and his attorney have also accused the plaintiff’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, of attempting to manipulate the media and have disclosed that the woman is an adult-content creator.

The legal proceedings are ongoing, with both parties releasing statements and evidence to support their positions. Sharpe maintains his innocence and is prepared to contest the allegations in court.
