On Monday, October 28, 2024, Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman was present at the 2024 Ballon d’Or held at the Theatre Du Chatelet in Paris, France.
Before the presentation of the award, Lookman’s 2024 Ballon d’Or ranking was 14th.
This accomplishment puts Lookman alongside the greatest players in the world and enhances his already impressive reputation on the global scene, as he was the only African player nominated this year.
With a stunning hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, the Atalanta forward helped lead the team to their first-ever European title to cap off an incredible season.
He has already contributed five goals and three assists this season, including two goals for Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.
After playing a crucial part in the Super Eagles’ getting to the Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year, Lookman has also been shortlisted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2024 African Footballer of the Year award.
