Super Eagles of Nigeria boss Eric Chelle was in attendance as Ahmed Musa-led Kano Pillars staged a stunning comeback to defeat reigning champions Rangers 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.
Rangers initially silenced the home crowd when Bashir Usman converted from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute.
However, experienced midfielder Rabiu Ali levelled the score for Pillars with another penalty three minutes before half-time.
The decisive moment came at the hour mark, when Jerry Alex scored the winning goal, securing all three points for Kano Pillars.
Other results from the NPFL included Bayelsa United’s 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance, Enyimba’s 1-0 win over Tornadoes, Remo Stars’ 1-0 triumph over Plateau United, Ikorodu City’s 2-0 win over Heartland, and Abia Warriors’ 1-1 draw with Nasarawa United.
Chelle is yet to decide on his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
