World football governing body FIFA has released the final rankings for 2024.
FIFA published the rankings on its official website of the body on Thursday as the year draws to a close.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria maintained its 44th spot with 1482 points in the latest ranking.
In the African rankings, the Super Eagles are ranked 4th behind Senegal (17), Egypt (33), and Algeria (37).
NigSuper Eagleseria ended the year on a rather disappointing note even though it qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The three-time African champions played a one-draw against Benin Republic and lost 2-1 at home to Rwanda in the last two matches of the 2025 AFCON qualification series in November.
The Super Eagles, despite a decent performance at the 2024 Nations Cup, failed to build on as it struggled to impress in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification matches.
Zimbabwe, Lesotho and South Africa picked a point each off the Super Eagles while Benin Republic secured maximum points.
The Super Eagles will look to get back on track when the World Cup qualification series resume in the new year.
On the flipside, the Super Falcons also maintained their spot in the women’s football ranking as they remained on 36th spot.
