The Super Falcons of Nigeria will return to Morocco next year to defend their Women’s Africa Nations Cup title after beating Benin Republic.
Nigeria sealed qualification 3-1 on aggregate but were held to a one-all draw at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta on Tuesday evening.
Al-Ittihad Women’s defender, Ashleigh Plumptre gave the ten-time champions the lead early in the game as she met Esther Okoronkwo’s cross from a corner-kick with a header.
Despite dominating the tie, Justin Madugu’s side couldn’t breach the defense of the visitors again.
Instead, the visitors restored parity a minute after the hour mark through Djibril.
The tie ended one-all as the Super Falcons qualified for their for their sixth 16th appearance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The 2026 tournament will serve as qualification for the Women’s World Cup in 2027 with the top four teams gaining automatic qualification.
