Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have retained their 36th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
The ranking confirms the team’s continued dominance on the African continent as they remain the highest-ranked women’s national side in Africa.
Despite limited international action in recent months, the Super Falcons maintained their position, demonstrating consistency in their global standing.
The Nigerian team continues to sit ahead of continental rivals such as South Africa (53rd), Morocco (61st), Zambia (62nd), and Ghana (66th).
Globally, the United States remains at the top of the rankings, followed closely by Spain, Germany, England, and Japan, who complete the top five positions.
The Super Falcons, under the guidance of head coach Justin Madugu, recently recorded a 2–0 victory over Cameroon in an international friendly match played in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Rasheedat Ajibade scored both goals in what was a dominant performance by the Nigerian side.
With preparations ongoing for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), the Super Falcons are set to face Portugal in another friendly encounter scheduled for June 23. Nigeria has been drawn in Group B of the WAFCON alongside Algeria, Tunisia, and Botswana.
The next edition of the FIFA Women’s World Rankings will be released on August 7, 2025.
