Super Falcons roll past Benin Republic in first leg of WAFCON Qualifiers
The Super Falcons of Nigeria are one game away from qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Nigeria secured a comfortable victory against Benin Republic in Lome, Togo ahead of the second leg on Tuesday.
Chiwendu Ihehuo put the Super Falcons ahead in the 24th minute with a lob into the net from Deborah Abiodun’s pass.
Deborah Abiodun showed another moment of brilliance as she teed up Esther Okoronkwo who doubled the lead before the break.
The first half ended with the 10-time African champions with a deserved lead over the “host” in the Togolese capital.
Chiwendu Ihehuo and Esther Okoronkwo’s goals were just enough as Nigeria sealed a two-nil win ahead of the second leg next week.
The Moshood Abiola Arena in Abeokuta will host the return fixture as Nigeria look to seal qualification and continue their title defense.
