Argentina have gotten their revenge over the Flying Eagles two years after the seven-time African champions ended their seventh World Cup chase.
Nigeria defeated Argentina om home soil two years ago to send the host out of the competition in the second round.
However, the South American giants ensured that history didn’t repeat itself on Wednesday night in Santiago, Chile.
Two goals in each half gave Argentina a comprehensive 4-0 thrashing over Nigeria as they secured a ticket to the last eight.
Argentina capitalized on the Flying Eagles errors as the raced to a three-goal lead before the half mark.
Tournament top scorer Maher Carrizo bagged a brace while Alejo Sarco and Mateo Silvetti also got on the scoresheet.
Aliyu Zabairu’s boys only had two shots on targets with Daniel Daga forcing a close-range save off Santino Barbi just before the first half break.
Meanwhile, Argentina will take on Mexico who thrashed host, Chile in the quarter-finals this weekend.
