Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the match as Arsenal secured a win over Westham at the London Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Belgian winger scored four minutes from time to restore Arsenal’s five-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table with two matches left.
West Ham United came into the tie needing to avoid defeat in their bid to survive the drop, while Mikel Arteta’s men pushed for maximum points.
Trossard had the first chance at goal in the match as he directed his header towards goal but Mads Hermansen made a superb save to deny him.
Moments later, Trossar missed the chance to put Arsenal ahead as his header from a rebound went off the post.
The first half ended goalless, with Arsenal being the better side, as the hosts defended deep in their own half.
David Raya was called into action with ten minutes to the end of the match as he thwarted Mateus Fernandes’s goal-bound shot.
Leandro Trossard eventually gave Arsenal the breakthrough in the 83rd minute as his shot deflected past Hermansen to give Arsenal the lead.
Calum Wilson’s late equaliser didn’t survive the lengthy scrutiny of the video assistant referee as the Gunners sealed a 1-0 win to edge closer to the title.
Arsenal lead Manchester City with two points going into the final two games of the season although the latter has a game in hand.
