Mike Magnan would probably have a sleepless night as AC Milan travels back home tonight after his howler sealed the win for Feyenoord in the first leg of the playoffs.
Feyenoord took the lead five minutes into the start of the match after Magnan failed to stop a weak shot from Igor Paixao.
The Brazilian winger latched onto a pass and fired a rather weak shot towards the middle of the goal, but Mike Magnan let the ball into his net to give the home side the lead.
Joao Felix came close to equalising for the Rossoneri but his from the edge of the box fell into the hands of Timon Wallenreuther.
Rafael Laeo’s claim for a penalty was waved off as AC Milan continued to push for an equalizer before halftime.
Igor Paixao almost scored again! His shot was ferocious but came off the crossbar a few minutes to halftime.
Feyenoord held on to their slim lead into the start of the second half but almost lost it.
A rebound fell to Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze in the box. He took a one-time shot, but once again, Wallenreuther stopped it from going in.
Milan’s search for a win away from home in the Champions League knockout round extends to 12 matches.
However, the Rossoneri won’t mind once they overturn tonight’s defeat in Milan on Tuesday.
