Victor Boniface has finally responded to concerns over his fitness level after sealing a loan move from Bayer Leverkusen to Werder Bremen.
Recall that AC Milan reportedly opted out of signing the Super Eagles striker on loan this summer after unsatisfactory medical reports.
The Serie A giants walked away from the loan move on the advice of their doctors after a series of medical examinations on the player.
Victor Boniface eventually secured a loan move to Werder Bremen on Monday, casting doubt on the veracity of his fitness following his recent struggles with injuries.
While responding to a question on how fit he is during his media presentation at Bremen, Boniface says he would be at the hospital if he were not fit enough to play.
“Whatever you want to believe on the media, you can believe them, that’s on you, not on me… I don’t care. If my body is not 100%, I will be in the hospital. I will not be here talking to you.”
Victor Boniface joins Werder Bremen on a season-long loan with part of his salary covered by Bayer Leverkusen.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old striker was left out of Eric Chelle’s 23-man squad for the September window of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as the Super Eagles take on Rwanda and South Africa.
