Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has penned a letter of apology to the fans of the club for his reaction after he was substituted in the El Clásico victory on Sunday.
The Brazilian forward walked straight into the dressing room after he was taken off for his countryman Rodrygo Goes in the 72nd minute.
Vinicius Jr., in a letter he posted on his social media pages, said his emotions got the better of him. He also revealed that he apologised to his teammates in training.
He went on to pledge his loyalty to the club, revealing that he will keep fighting for the good of the team.
“Today I want to apologize to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clásico.”
“Just as I have already done in person during today’s training, I also want to apologize again to my teammates, the club, and the president.”
“Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team. My competitive character stems from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents.”
“I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day.”
The 25-year-old has had a decent start to the season with five goals and an assist in 15 matches across all competitions.
Vinicius Jr.’s frequent substituting this season has raised suspicion of a fallout between him and Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.
Reports suggest that Vinicius Jr. will consider a move away from Real Madrid as he feels his importance to the team has been overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe.
However, the Spanish manager played down the speculation, indicating that the Brazilian forward is an important member of the squad.
