Atletico Madrid are still interested in signing Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman from Atalanta this summer, despite the arrival of Argentine forward Thiago Almada.
The 24-year-old winger joins the 11-time La Liga champions from Brazilian Serie A side Botafogo for a fee in the region of €40 million.
Thiago Almada spent the last six months at French Ligue 1 side Lyon, and scored five goals and registered an assist in twenty matches.
However, Atlético Madrid are keen on adding experience to their forward line with a keen interest in the reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman.
Lookman’s valuation is pegged at €60 million as Atalanta look to pathways with the 27-year-old forward after three successful years in Bergamo.
However, the Spanish outfit are unwilling to meet Lookman’s release clause but have been in contact with Atalanta again in recent days.
With the summer transfer window still open, negotiation between both clubs is expected to continue as the player seeks a new challenge.
Ademola Lookman led Atalanta to its European title in 2024 as he scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.
