Ademola Lookman has taken positives from Atalanta’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Nigerian international believes the display shows they can compete with the best, despite failing to secure the win.
Speaking after the game, Lookman praised his teammates, saying;
“Tough game, they took their chances when they had them. We knew what type of game it would be, we were unlucky, but we have our heads held high.”
Lookman, who scored Atalanta’s second goal and was named Man of the Match, acknowledged the team’s disappointment with the result and expressed pride in their effort.
“We are disappointed with the result because we felt we could have done more, but there is also pride,” he said.
The result was Atalanta’s first defeat since the 3-2 reverse to Como in September.
