Nigeria football fans didn’t hide their admiration for the Super Falcons of Nigeria after thrashing the Copper Queens of Zambia in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The nine-time African champions showed superior quality on the pitch as they took apart the Zambians in a five-nil annihilation at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Friday evening.
Esther Okoronkwo had a fanatic performance in the five-star performance as she scored and provided a two assists – her third of the tournament.
Nigerians, who have previously criticised the Super Falcons for their poor showing in the group stage, heaped praises on them as they cruised into the last four.
However, they didn’t hide their displesures at former captain of the side and former Women’s African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala who has had underwhelming tournament so far.
Asisat Oshoala came on as a second half substitute but failed to make meaningful impact during a twenty-minute spell.

A lot of analysts and sport journalists didn’t give these ladies any chance of surviving this match.
They say, the Falcons can’t put two / three passes together.
All of them done fail.
Super Falcons Carry go.
You are coming home with the Trophy 🏆

I watched our super falcons beating hell out of the Zambian girls and all I could say is there’s a team work among our girls and I’m so proud of them btw.
By the grace of God Almighty Allah I’ll watch your next match in the semi final. I wish y’all the best.
@NGSuper_Falcons 💯

Super Falcons annihilated Zambia 5-0 and coach Justin Madugu was brilliant with his tactics today.
The long balls into the defensive third of Zambia caught thier zonal marking tactics off-guard.
4 out of the 5 goals all came from aerial balls.

Oshoala is near the end. Alozie is the weakest girl in the squad. Ajibade works like a horse but her cross are poor. Okoronkwo is good. We have the best defense in the tournament. We need more one two passes
10. Charles
Oshoala has represented Nigeria very well, and we applaud her, but there comes a time when you must realise time is up. That time is now. #WAFCON

Chai!!! I almost forgot Asisat Oshoala is a footballer

The team is solid. But Oshoala missing 2 good chances was unacceptable. She was a minus today fr.

Many soccer fans didn’t expect the outcome (result) between Super Falcons and Zambia. I am glad the Falcons stepped up when it matter most. One or two players in that Falcons team needs to retire from the National Team after the tournament (e.g Oshoala and Ordega)

You really can’t win with Nigerian footballers lmao. I’ve been blocked by Asisat Oshoala because I said I agree she’s past her best, in a video that was largely defending her from criticism after Nigeria’s first match at this WAFCON.
I find it funny & sad at the same time. Lol

Asisat Oshoala hasn’t had a good game for the Falcons for over three years now. Why’s she still being invited??
16. Pamela
I was not impressed by Asisat Oshoala today. She is way past her best
Credit to Ijamilusi. I was impressed

Asisat Oshoala is the shadow of the player we used to know. She would have buried those chances 5 years ago. Age comes for every one of us one way or another.

Asisat Oshoala should pack it up . She has done and achieved so much for herself but there comes a time to let it go. Would always remain a legend of the game.
19. Bsong
How old is Asisat Oshoala wey she no con good again?
20. Kris
Some players no dey try i swear. Asisat Oshoala has been a shadow of herself for a long time, how she still plays baffles me. She’s been playing like a big kid sulking.
Ajibade as well, sometimes, her passes are not weighed. Either too short or too long, and a lot of poor decisions. I will pull her a little bit deeper to add experience to the midfield.
Ordega has to be starting. She has got the grit and hunger and experience as well, and her corners have been the best of the lot.
Some of the younger players who played against Algeria should be starting ahead of Asisat.
