Nigerian striker Akor Adams has expressed his delight after he scored his first La Liga goal for Sevilla.
The former Flying Eagles striker grabbed the winner for the visitors three minutes from time after he came on as a second half substitute.
Akor Adams got the end of Jose Angél Carmona’s cross from a swift counter attack to seal a late win for Sevilla over Tayo Vellacano.
Adams said he was prepared for the opportunity to help the team despite starting from the bench.
“I had the opportunity to come on, I was prepared and working hard, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity.
“We didn’t give up. We have a top mentality in the group. The coach has confidence in what we can do, and it shows in the games.”
Akor Adams joined Sevilla in January from Montpellier but endured a difficult start due to injuries and other shortcomings in the opening six months.
The 25-year-old striker, with his first La Liga goal, will look to put his difficult start in Spain behind him and get more opportunities in front of goal to solidify his place in the team.
Sevilla occupy the 9th spot on the Spanish La Liga log with 10 points from seven matches.
