It was a bittersweet Saturday for Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi as he achieved a new feat in his Premier League career across three clubs.
Alex Iwobi’s appearance in Fulham’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle on Saturday at St. James Park marked his 300th appearance in the league.
The Super Eagles midfielder becomes the Nigerian with the most appearances in the league and the fifth African to have more than 300 games.
On reaching the landmark achievement, Iwo expressed his excitement and indicated he’s not stopping soon as he wants to keep extending the record.
“It’s amazing. It’s a big achievement to lead that, with the likes of Shola Ameobi and even my uncle [Jay-Jay Okocha], that’s participated in the Premier League.
“It’s an honour, but I’m not done yet, I’m going to keep on going and hopefully keep the record going,”
Alex Iwobi made his Premier League debut in a 3–0 win against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, on October 30, 2015, as a stoppage time substitute for former midfielder, Mesut Özil.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder is playing for his third club in the Premier League after he previously played for Carlo Ancelotti at Everton.
