Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in three sets (6-2, 6-2. 7-6) retain his Wimbledon title which he won last year defeating the Serbian.

Novak Djokovic failed to exact revenge against Carlos Alcaraz in their consecutive Wimbledon finals. Alcaraz emerged victorious, becoming the sixth player in the Open Era to achieve back-to-back wins at Wimbledon and Roland-Garros, a feat last accomplished by Rafael Nadal in 2010.

Alcaraz dominated the match, hardly breaking a sweat as he took control from the start. He broke Djokovic’s serve twice in the first set, winning it 6-2, and continued to outplay the Serbian throughout the match.

The second set started in the same vein for the Spaniard as he broke the Serbian in the first game of the second set and held his serve in the second. In the seventh game, Alcaraz broke Djokovic once again to go 5-2 up. The Spaniard served out the set to win it 6-2 just like the first and that put him two sets ahead needing one more to secure his second consecutive Wimbledon title.

It was a closer contest in the third set as both players held on to their serves and the 24 time Grand Slams winner raised his game and that took the third set to a tie-break. Alcaraz won the decider 7-4 to become the second man in the Open Era to win his first 4 Grand Slam finals.
