Barcelona remain unbeaten as the league phase of the Women’s UEFA Champions League continued on Wednesday night.
The three-time champions made it three wins in three matches as they breeze past Belgian side Leuven at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Alexia Putellas put the host ahead on added time of the first half. The two-time Ballon d’or Gemini winner converted from the penalty spot after several attempts on goal.
The tie was a one-sided affair as Barcelona controlled possession and created all the chances leaving the visitors to chance shadows.
An own goal from Kim Everaerts, doubled Barcelona’s advantage after 56 minutes of action.
Irene Parades increased the tally in the 67th minutes to seal a comfortable 3-0 win for the former champions.
Meanwhile, defending champions of the competition, Arsenal suffered their second loss of the league phase.
The Gunners, despite taking a two-goal lead in the first half of the encounter, capitulated in dramatic fashion in the second.
Emily Fox and Spanish forward Mariona Caldentey scored within the half-hour to put the Gunners two goals up after a sustained period of dominance over the host.
However, the second half witnessed the champions threw away their two+goal cushion as German forward, Alara Sehitler, Pernille Harder Glodis Viggosdottir scored in the last half-hour mark to seal a 3-2 win.
