Barcelona legend, Lionel Messi has waxed lyrical about teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, whom he has been compared with on many occasions over the last 12 months.
Messi, speaking at an Adidas event in Germany, said, “There is a very good generation of young footballers who have many years ahead of them. If I have to stay with someone, because of their age and their future, I have heard that they have chosen Lamine Yamal and certainly for me too. I agree.”
“It depends on him and many things because that’s football, but it’s present and without a doubt he has a huge future.”
Yamal, 17, has been putting up some great performances and numbers this season for Barcelona. He has six goals and 11 assists already for Hansi Flick’s side in 20 appearances in all competitions.
He already has La Liga and European Championship honours to his name, with Barca and Spain, while also recently winning the Golden Boy award in 2024.
