The Zimbabwe national football team has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to them upon their arrival in Nigeria ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Super Eagles.
The Warriors, as they are affectionately known, arrived in Uyo on Saturday, March 22, 2025, led by Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Vice President Kennedy Ndebele.
The delegation was warmly received by NFF officials, setting a positive tone for their stay. In a notable gesture of goodwill, the NFF provided the Zimbabwean team with a brand-new, custom-branded Innoson bus for their transportation needs during their time in Nigeria.

This act has been widely commended and underscores the spirit of camaraderie between the two football associations.
The provision of the Innoson bus was highlighted in a social media post by Dr. Victor Ademola, who shared images of the branded vehicle and praised the NFF for their thoughtful gesture. The post has garnered positive reactions, reflecting the broader appreciation for the NFF’s hospitality.
The Zimbabwean team conducted their first training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday morning, March 23, 2025, in preparation for the crucial qualifier.
Zimbabwe’s head coach, Michael Nees, has also expressed his admiration for the hospitality and facilities provided in Uyo, Nigeria, as his team prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles.
Despite travel delays due to a canceled flight, Nees commended the spacious accommodations, noting that the hotel was previously used by Nigeria’s national team.
Nees was particularly impressed with the training facilities, describing the pitch as soft and well-maintained, and expressing a desire for similar amenities in Zimbabwe.
He anticipates an even better playing surface at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium for the upcoming match.
The match is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Both teams are eager to secure vital points as they continue their quest for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
