3 reasons why Isak is better than Osimhen

In the world of modern football, comparisons between top strikers are inevitable—and the debate between Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen is heating up.

While Osimhen remains a dominant force in Europe, especially after his succesful campaign with Galatasaray, there’s a growing argument that Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak has surpassed him in several critical areas.

Here are three compelling reasons why Isak is currently the more complete and effective forward.

1. Finishing Precision and Efficiency

Isak’s composure in front of goal stands out. The Swedish international boasts a higher shooting accuracy than Osimhen, regularly converting half-chances with finesse and intelligence. While Osimhen thrives on physicality and instinctive strikes, Isak adds calm calculation to his finishing, often placing the ball beyond the goalkeeper’s reach rather than relying solely on power.

His superior shot placement and decision-making in the box have translated into a remarkable goal-scoring run in the Premier League, where clinical finishing is crucial.

2. Greater Creativity and Involvement in Build-Up

Isak isn’t just a finisher, he’s a playmaker. Unlike Osimhen, who often waits on the last line of defense to pounce on service, Isak is actively involved in Newcastle’s buildup play. He drops into midfield pockets, links with teammates, and creates chances for others.

Statistically, Isak averages more key passes per game and has created more big chances for teammates this past season. His vision, technique, and ability to combine in tight spaces give him a more well-rounded attacking profile than Osimhen, whose playmaking output is relatively limited.

3. Tactical Versatility

One of Isak’s standout attributes is his adaptability. The 25-year-old has shown he can lead the line, play from wide positions, or operate as a second striker, all with equal confidence. His ability to drift across attacking zones makes him unpredictable and hard to mark.

Osimhen, while effective as a traditional No. 9, is more system-dependent and often thrives best in formations tailored to maximize his strength and movement in the box. Isak’s positional fluidity makes him a better fit in various tactical setups, particularly those demanding rotation and interchanging roles in attack.
