5 reasons Viktor Gykores is better than Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen

Viktor Gyokores scored a hat-trick to destroy Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

He is the hottest property on the market, just like Victor Osimehn was last summer.

As the January transfer window approaches, we take a look at which striker will be a better option for the biggest clubs.

There are a host of things to consider before making a signing of this magnitude, but we have narrowed it down to 5.

Here are 5 reasons we think Gyokores is clear of Osimhen at the moment.

1. Adaptability

Gyokeres shines in multiple systems, whether paired up front or flying solo. His flexibility allows him to seamlessly adjust to different formations and teammates. In contrast, Osimhen relies heavily on leading the line alone, utilizing his pace to exploit defenders.

2. Fitness & Injuries

Osimhen’s injury-prone past raises significant concerns. Frequent muscle issues have disrupted his seasons, impacting his overall performance. Meanwhile, Gyökeres boasts remarkable fitness, playing 67 matches in just over a year for Sporting – a testament to his durability.

3. Cost-Effectiveness

Signing Osimhen comes with a hefty price tag: at least €80 million plus €300,000 weekly wages. That’s a substantial investment. Gyökeres, on the other hand, offers better value, earning a reported €50,000 per week – a more manageable cost for clubs.

4. Style of play

Unlike Osimhen, who relies on chances created for him, Gyökeres excels at manufacturing his own opportunities. His strength, finishing, and dribbling skills make him a nightmare for defenders. Gyökeres’s ability to run at and through opponents is unparalleled.

5. Goals, Goals, Goals

Gyokeres’s staggering record speaks for itself: 66 goals in 67 matches for Sporting, including 7 in his last two games! He’s now among Europe’s top 5 deadliest strikers, alongside Haaland, Lewandowski, Kane, and Mbappe. Osimhen has performed admirably during his loan spell at Galatasaray and was incredible in the 2022-23 season leading Napoli to the Scudetto, but at the moment Gyokores is the more dangerous striker.
