It was a night of mixed emotions in Lisbon as Sporting CP roared to a resounding 4-1 victory over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League in what was Rúben Amorim‘s final game in charge.
City took an early lead through Phil Foden, but Sporting equalized before halftime through Viktor Gyokeres.
The second half was a disaster for City, as Gyokeres scored two penalties and Maximilian Araujo added another goal in what was a perfect send off for Amorim.
This win moves Sporting up to second in the Champions League standings with 10 points from four matches, while City fall to sixth with seven points.
The 39 year old leaves the fate of Sporting in good hands as he resumes at Manchester United on November 11.
