Southampton manager Russell Martin has confirmed that Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu is fit and available for selection again.
Onuachu has been sidelined since suffering an injury in the Premier League clash with Liverpool last month.
The Saints host Tottenham Hotspur at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday, and Martin revealed that Onuachu will be included in the matchday squad.
“Jan Bednarek’s back, Paul Onuachu’s back, which is good, and apart from that we’re all good,” he told a press conference.
Despite Onuachu’s 16-game goal drought in the league, Martin praised the striker’s unique qualities.
“Paul gives us a real alternative option that’s different to anyone in the squad and most people in the league actually,” he said.
Martin also expressed his disappointment that Onuachu’s injury came at a time when he was in good form.
“He was really unfortunate at the timing of his injury as he was in such a good place and was going to really help us I think, and now he’s going to help us moving forwards.”
