Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has offered insights into why Sudan delivered a stunning 4-0 thrashing of his Team B during their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) match on Tuesday, resulting in Nigeria’s early exit.
Chelle witnessed Ghanaian manager Kwesi Appiah’s side dominate, with goals from an own goal by Leonard Ngenge, Walieldin Khedr, and a brace from Abdel Raouf sealing the win.

This followed Nigeria’s 1-0 defeat to Senegal in their opening game last week, leaving them winless.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Chelle acknowledged Nigeria’s errors.
“We made a lot of mistakes and we gave up the game in the second half,” Chelle said.

“Four goals, four mistakes. We made a lot of mistakes in these two games [Senegal and Sudan],” he added, reflecting on the team’s defensive lapses across both matches.
The loss marks a disappointing end to Nigeria’s CHAN campaign, prompting calls for tactical adjustments ahead of future competitions.
