Tottenham Hotspur maintained their strong start to the 2025/26 Premier League season, securing a 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Both teams entered with opening-day victories—Spurs’ 3-0 rout of Burnley and City’s 4-0 demolition of Wolves—but Tottenham, with just one loss in their last four trips to Manchester, proved no pushovers.
City dominated early, with Omar Marmoush testing Guglielmo Vicario, who made a sharp save to deny the Egyptian. Under Thomas Frank’s pragmatic approach, Spurs absorbed pressure and struck on the counter.
A Mohamed Kudus flick-on released Richarlison, who set up Brennan Johnson to sweep home the opener. Minutes later, James Trafford’s errant pass was intercepted by Richarlison, allowing João Palhinha to hammer in his first Tottenham goal.

In the second half, Spurs sat back, limiting City’s chances. A Johnson-led break could have sealed it, but his shot went astray. City pushed late but found Tottenham’s defense resolute.
This comfortable win gave Spurs six points from six without conceding, while City’s struggles continued against a side Pep Guardiola has lost to 10 times—more than any other.
