3 Nigerian Players Who Stood Out in the 2–2 Draw Against Jordan

Nigeria were forced to settle for a 2–2 draw against Jordan at the Mardan Stadium, in a game that swung back and forth and exposed both attacking quality and defensive lapses from the Super Eagles.

Despite taking control after coming from behind, Nigeria could not hold on in the second half as Jordan fought back to secure a share of the spoils.

While the result still confirmed the Super Eagles as tournament winners, the match showed a lot of  individual performances.

Moses Simon

Simon was Nigeria’s most consistent attacking threat and the standout performer on the night. He dragged the team back into the game with his equaliser and remained a constant problem for the Jordanian defence with his pace and direct runs.

Even when Nigeria struggled to maintain control in key moments, Simon’s movement and energy kept them competitive in the final third. His influence across the game makes him one of the biggest positives from the encounter.

Emmanuel Fernandez

The match also marked a breakthrough moment for Fernandez, who seized his opportunity on his first senior start.

He was composed defensively and contributed significantly going forward, scoring Nigeria’s second goal to put them in control before the second-half setback.

Bright Osayi-Samuel

Osayi-Samuel showed a disciplined and balanced performance, handling his defensive duties while still supporting Nigeria’s attacking play. He managed Jordan’s attacking threats on his flank with composure and used his pace to recover when needed, helping to stabilize the backline during moments of pressure.

His ability to combine defensive responsibility with forward support made him one of the more reliable performers in a match where Nigeria’s structure was at times tested. He assisted Emmanuel Fernandez against Jordan.
