Iheanacho Focused on Team Success After Late Winner for Celtic

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has reiterated that his main focus is helping Celtic secure victories after coming off the bench to score the decisive goal in their 2-1 win over Hibernian on Sunday.

The forward struck late at Easter Road to hand Celtic all three points, continuing a run of crucial contributions in recent fixtures. He had previously delivered at Dens Park and scored twice in extra time against St Mirren at Hampden to send the team into the Scottish Cup final.

Speaking after the match, Iheanacho said he takes pride in making an impact whenever called upon.

“I’m always happy to come in and help the team win. That’s the most important thing,” he said, adding that the victory meant a lot to both the players and supporters.

He noted that breaking down teams, especially when they are reduced to 10 men, requires patience and discipline.

“When a team sits back, you have to move the ball well and wait for the right moment. It’s not easy, but we stayed patient and it paid off,” he explained.

On his goal, Iheanacho admitted it was not straightforward, but he remained calm in front of goal.

“I just tried to stay composed and make sure I got a good connection. Thankfully, it went in,” he said.

The 29-year-old has now scored seven goals across all competitions this season, playing a key role in Celtic’s push for silverware.

Looking ahead, Iheanacho said the team must stay focused in the final stretch of the campaign.

“We need to keep working, take it one game at a time, and hopefully we’ll achieve our objectives at the end of the season,” he added.
