Manchester United’s midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been named Premier League’s player of the season beating Arsenal’s Declan Rice to the award.
The Portuguese midfielder claimed the prestigious individual accolade after helping the Red Devils qualify for the Champions League.
Bruno Fernandes also reached a landmark achievement after equalling the most assists in the Premier League – 20, a record previously held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne.
Fernandes scored eight goals and provided 20 assists in 34 Premier League matches for the Red Devils.
The award comes after he was named Manchester United’s Player of the Season, Manchester United”s Players’ Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Player of the Season as well.
Bruno Fernandes becomes the first Manchester United player to win the Premier League Player of the Year award since Nemanja Vidic in the 2010/2011 season.
He also becomes the second Portuguese player to win it after Cristiano Ronaldo (2006/2007, 2007/2008).
