Super Falcons midfielder, Deborah Abiodun, says the win over Ghana Black Queens is a step in the right direction ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The nine-time champions secured a comfortable win over Ghana in a warm-up game on Sunday in Morocco ahead of next month’s tournament.
Chiwendu Ihuezuo and Asisat Oshoala scored in the first half to give Nigeria a 2-0 lead at halftime, while the captain of the team, Rasheedat Ajibade, added the third six minutes into the second half.
Deborah Abiodun said the win is in line with their ambition for the tournament. The 23-year-old midfielder added that the Super Falcons want to win every game regardless of the opponent or the competitiveness of the match.
I think it was a good game, a good training game especially against a team like Ghana. They bring the physicality and i think it is very good for the team. It is a step towards our main aim of the competition (WAFCON 2025) which is to keep winning regarless of it being or friendly match or not, we have to win every game we have…
Abiodun played the entire duration of the match as the Super Falcons rounded off preparation for the tournament with a 3-1 win.
Nigeria begin their quest for a 10th continental success on Sunday as they take on Tunisia in their opening match at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca.
