Chelsea defender, Tosin Adarabioyo has spoken candidly about the prospect of representing the Nigerian senior national team following his standout performance at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.

Fresh off scoring in Chelsea’s commanding 3-0 victory over Tunisian champions Esperance, the 27-year-old addressed the issue during a post-match press conference.

Adarabioyo, who is eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents, has long been on the radar of the Super Eagles despite previously representing England at youth levels.

In the past, the former Fulham centre-back had often sidestepped questions regarding a potential international switch. However, this time, he expressed a genuine willingness to explore the possibility of playing for Nigeria and is open to initiating dialogue with the national team coach, Eric Chelle.

“That is a question I have answered quite a bit recently, yeah, it is something that we are looking into in the future.

“It is a conversation I want to have with the coach; we will see how that goes,” Adarabioyo said.

Adarabioyo’s openness may reignite hopes among Nigerian fans of seeing the towering defender bolster the Super Eagles’ backline in the near future.
