Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold was among the high-profile guests at the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony held on Monday evening at the London Palladium.
The Afrobeats star, popularly known as AG Baby, made an appearance at the historic 70th edition of football’s most prestigious individual awards, which took place outside France for the first time. Photos and videos shared on social media showed him on the red carpet and at the event, with several Nigerian accounts highlighting his presence as another proud moment for the country’s music industry.
Adekunle Gold, who has built a strong international following with his blend of Afrobeats, highlife and soul, was also linked to a performance at the official after-party. Earlier in the day, he had posted on X asking fans who they thought would win the Ballon d’Or, signalling his interest and attendance at the night’s proceedings.
His appearance comes as Nigerian artists continue to feature prominently on global stages. Burna Boy was also present at the same ceremony, further underlining the growing cultural influence of Afrobeats at major international events.
The Ballon d’Or ceremony, hosted by Thierry Henry and Kate Scott, brought together football’s elite to celebrate the best players, coaches and clubs from the 2025/26 season. Adekunle Gold’s stylish presence added to the glamour of the evening as the football world waited to learn the night’s big winners.
