Liverpool will be without the threat Julian Alvarez posses when the Reds welcome Atletico Madrid to Anfield in their UEFA Champions League opener on Wednesday night.
The Argentine striker has been ruled out of the trip to Liverpool due to knee discomfort after the win against Villarreal.
Julian Alvarez provided the assist to Pablo Barrios’ opener in the first half but was taken off after 45 minutes for Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth.

United States’ midfielder Johnny Cardoso will also not be available for selection as he’s also nursing an injury.
However, Diego Someone will bank on the experience of veteran forward Antoine Griezmman, Alexander Sorloth, Nico Gonzalez and his son Guiliano Simeone.
Recent meetings between both sides have ended in favour of Arne Sloth’s men with three wins in five previous matches.
Liverpool last met Atletico Madrid in the group stage of the Champions League in 2021.
Late Diogo Jota and former forward, Sadio Mane scored in the first half to secure a two-nil victory for Liverpool at Anfield.
