Super Eagles’ path to qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup received a big boost after Zimbabwe played a two-all draw against Benin Republic.
The Warriors came from two goals down to secure a point against the Squirrels at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa.
Augsburg striker Steve Mounie gave Gernot Rohr’s men the lead early in the match.
Doukou Dodo doubled the lead for Benin Republic in the 35th minute to put the visitors in a comfortable position.
However, Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Marshall Munetsi reduced the deficit just before halftime.
Zimbabwe started the second half on the better side and equalized just before the half-hour mark through Knowledge Musonda.
The match ended 2-2 as both sides shared the spoils, which favors the Super Eagles, having dropped points against both sides previously in the qualifiers.
A win for the Super Eagles against Rwanda tomorrow will most likely see them move above Lesotho in fourth place.
Despite the draw, Benin Republic still top Group C with 8 points from five matches
