Nigerian striker Gift Orban is reportedly set to join Bundesliga club Hoffenheim from Olympique Lyon in the January transfer window.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Hoffenheim are in advanced talks with Lyon to sign the 22-year-old attacker, who has struggled to establish himself at the Ligue 1 club.
“Hoffenheim are in advanced talks to sign Gift Orban as a new striker from Olympique Lyon. Negotiations underway,” Romano tweeted.
Romano added that “the agreement is considered close as they’re the most concrete team working on a deal with OL, despite links with Turkish clubs too.”
Orban, who has also attracted interest from other European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, is expected to leave Lyon after failing to secure regular playing time.
Lyon signed Orban from KAA Gent in January 2023 for around €14 million, but he has scored only twice in five appearances for the club.
