Akwa United secured a narrow 1-0 win over Nasarawa United to move out of the Nigeria Premier Football League relegation zone.

The former NPFL champions have had a poor start to the 2024/2025 season with just 9 plants from 11 matches.

However, coach Mohammed Babaganaru’s side bagged their third win of the season – all of which have been home victories.

Ghanaian midfielder Paul Acquah gave the home side the only goal of the match on the 34th minute via a brilliant header from Kabir Osoba’s cross.

The visitors had 2 shots on target in the first half as they tried to get back into the game.

Unfortunately, Hakeem Otuyiga was briliant in between the sticks as he kept Akwa United in the game.

Akwa United had a shout for penalty waved off by the referee late in the first half after Kunle Oyetosho appeared to have been fouled in the box.

Both sides were quite lackadaisical as they didn’t create goal-bound chances in the second half of the match.
