Al-Ittihad Ladies Football Club welcomed back their captain Ashleigh Plumptre after helping the Super Falcons win a historic tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Saudi club shared a video of Plumptre returning to training on its X page with the caption, “The African Queen is here”.
Ashleigh Plumptre featured in five of Nigeria’s six matches en route to winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The 27-year-old defender was on for the entire duration of the pulsating final as the Super Falcons overturned a two-goal deficit to beat host, Morocco.
Having missed out of the 2022 edition in Morocco as well, Super Falcons tenth title is Ashleigh Plumptre’s first since she switched allegiance to Nigeria.
