Houston Dash defender and Nigerian international, Michelle Alozie is set to wear the number 22 jersey again for the 2025 NWSL season.

The club confirmed the change in a social media post, stating, “New year, new number. Michelle Alozie is back to reppin’ 2️⃣2️⃣!”

Alozie originally wore the number 22 during her early years with the Dash but had been sporting the number 7 in recent seasons. The switch marks a return to a familiar identity as she prepares for another campaign with the team.

The 26-year-old has been a key figure for the Dash since joining in 2021, initially as a preseason trialist. Her impressive performances earned her a full contract, and in September 2024, she signed a two-year extension, keeping her in Houston through 2026.

Beyond her contributions on the pitch, Alozie is also making an impact off the field. She works as a cancer research technician at Texas Children’s Hospital, balancing her soccer career with scientific research.

With a new head coach, Fabrice Gautrat, leading the team in 2025, Alozie’s return to her preferred number could symbolize a fresh start for both her and the Dash as they aim for a stronger season.
