Arsenal thrash Slavia Prague to extend winning streak as Conte’s European poor run with Napoli continues

What a time to be alive as an Arsenal fan! The Gunners are not just winning games but also keeping clean sheets.

Arsenal extended their winning and clean sheets streaks on Tuesday night as they made light work of Slavia Prague away from home.

Mikel Arteta made some changes in the line-up with Christian Norgaard, Ethan Nwaneri and Piero Hincapie making a start.

Bukayo Saka scored from the penalty spot to put Arsenal ahead after the half hour mark after the intervention of the video assistant referee.

Arsenal went into the break with the slim lead despite having five shots on target in the first half.

Less than a minute into the second half, Belgian forward, Leandro Trossard lofted a ball into the box, Mikel Merino latches onto it with a one-time shot to double the lead.

The Spanish midfielder sealed the win with a close-range header from a brilliant cross from Declan Rice as the Gunners sealed a 3-0 win.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are currently on a eight-match winning streak across all competitions without conceding – a joint-record for an English top-flight club along with Preston in 1889 and Liverpool in 1920.

Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt ensured Antonio Conte’s woes in the Champions League continues as the Germans held the Serie A champions to a stalemate.

Despite enjoying possession on the tie, Napoli struggled to breakdown the defense of the former Europa League champions that conceded five against Liverpool on matchday three.

The result leaves Napoli with one win, two losses and one draw in four matches in the league phase of the Champions League so far.
