Arsenal vs Man City: 3 things learnt in Emirates draw

The highly anticipated clash between Arsenal and Manchester City at the Emirates ended in a tense 1-1 draw, a result that offered both sides a point but left fans with plenty of talking points.

Here are 3 takeaways from the game.

1. Arsenal now better than City

Arsenal dominated the game, particularly in the second half, forcing a usually free-flowing City side to defend deep with numbers behind the ball.

This was a sign of the Gunners’ control and relentless pressure under Mikel Arteta. City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, even resorted to an uncharacteristic five-man defence and substituted Erling Haaland late on, a testament to how much they were struggling to contain Arsenal’s attack.

2. Arsenal’s Squad Depth is the Best in the League

While Arsenal may have been held to a draw, they proved that their squad depth is second to none. With the game needing a spark, Arteta was able to bring on the returning Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze at halftime to inject pace and creativity.

It was Martinelli, another substitute, who ultimately scored the late equalizer to salvage a point, showing that Arsenal’s bench has the quality to change a game.

3. The Result Is a Gift to Liverpool

While both managers may have left the Emirates feeling they could have won, the biggest winners of the day are undoubtedly Liverpool.

A draw between their two main rivals hands the Reds a crucial advantage in the early title race. It ensures that the top of the table remains tight and that no single team has a clear upper hand just yet. The result sets the stage for what promises to be a thrilling three-way battle for the Premier League crown.
