Barcelona were brought back down to earth after taking a 2-goal lead, as a spirited Celta Vigo side pegged them back with two goals in two minutes.
Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski had given the Catalan giants a seemingly comfortable advantage, but Alfonso Gonzalez and Hugo Alvarez struck in the 84th and 86th minutes to snatch a 2-2 draw.
Manager Hansi Flick was disappointed with his team’s performance, stating,
“We had a bad game, not just the final 10 minutes. I didn’t like the whole performance.”
Flick emphasized the need for improvement, adding,
“There were too many mistakes. We did not control the ball. We must return to our level.”
The draw leaves Barcelona with 34 points after 14 matches, five more than second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid are on 27 points, but have played two games less, and could be just one point behind Barcelona if they win their outstanding fixtures.
