Barcelona left-back, Alejandro Balde joined NBA icon, Pau Gasol at the grand finale of the 21st Pau Gasol Academy held at Parc Esportiu Llobregat in Cornellà earlier this week.
The event marked the culmination of a week-long basketball and lifestyle program attended by over 440 youth players from 37 countries.
Balde, a 21‑year‑old rising star in Barcelona’s senior side, surprised fans as he partnered alongside Gasol, the two facing off in a fun skills challenge and leading the Rising Stars 3×3 teams.
With Pau rotating between both sides, the session combined athletic flair with mentorship, showcasing Balde’s versatility and Gasol’s commitment to youth development.
Beyond the on‑court action, the academy featured coaching sessions from top basketball figures—including Phil Handy, Silvia Domínguez, and neuromuscular expert Barrence Baytos (formerly of Kobe Bryant’s team) and even virtual guest appearances like WNBA legend Amaya Valdemoro, making it a rich educational experience.
