Barau stun Kano Pillars as Tornadoes thrash Plateau United in action-packed NPFL matchday

The Nigeria Professional Football League delivered drama across eight centres today, with late winners, comebacks, and home dominance shaping the narrative.

Barau FC 2–1 Kano Pillars

Kano Pillars struck first through Rabiu Ali midway into the first half, but Barau responded after the break with renewed intensity.

Abdulbari Nura converted from the spot to level matters before Stanley Oganbor sealed the comeback with a composed finish. Pillars pushed for an equaliser but Barau held firm to protect the points.

Niger Tornadoes 4–0 Plateau United

Tornadoes produced the most commanding display of the day. They overwhelmed Plateau United with Abdulaz Dalhatu the star of the show, banging home a hat-trick before Terdoo Shimagande rounded up what was a perfect evening for the hosts.

Ikorodu City 2–0 Nasarawa United

Ikorodu City were efficient and disciplined. Chidera Oparaocha broke the deadlock before Joseph Arumala doubled the lead in the second half. Nasarawa chased the game but offered little cutting edge, while Ikorodu stayed organised to earn a deserved clean-sheet victory.

El-Kanemi Warriors 2–1 Wikki Tourists

A tense contest in Maiduguri saw El-Kanemi edge past Wikki. The Warriors raced into a 2–0 lead in the first 35 minutes before Wikki halved the scoreline right before half time. The score remained unchanged throughout the second half as the hosts claimed all three points.

Bayelsa United 1–2 Kun Khalifat FC

Bayelsa United were stunned at home as Kun Khalifat FC snatched a hard-fought victory. The hosts drew level after falling behind, but Kun Khalifat grabbed the decisive goal in the 77th minute and successfully managed the game to the final whistle.

Kwara United 1–0 Katsina United

A cagey tie in Ilorin was decided by Ibrahim Yahaya’s late strike. Katsina United were compact and difficult to break down, but Kwara stayed patient and found the breakthrough in the final 10 minutes through Yahaya Ibrahim. The hosts then shut the game down efficiently.

Shooting Stars 2–0 Abia Warriors

Not unfazed by the incident at Kano last week, Shooting Stars delivered a solid home performance, controlling proceedings from midfield and punishing Abia Warriors with two well-worked goals by Abiodun Ayobami and Qamar Adegoke on either side of half-time.
