Barca advance in Copa Del Rey with big win over Betis

Barcelona showcased a dominant performance at home defeating Real Betis 5-1 to secure their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

Seventeen-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal was instrumental in the victory, contributing a goal and two assists.

The match began with Barcelona asserting control. In the 3rd minute, Gavi opened the scoring with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner, assisted by Dani Olmo. The lead was doubled in the 27th minute when Jules Koundé received a through ball from Yamal and finished with precision.

Barcelona maintained their offensive momentum after the break. In the 58th minute, Raphinha made it 3-0, finishing off a swift counter-attack. Ferran Torres added a fourth goal in the 67th minute, capitalizing on a corner situation with an assist from Dani Olmo.

Yamal then capped off his stellar performance by scoring Barcelona’s fifth goal in the 75th minute, showcasing his dribbling prowess before slotting the ball into the net.

Real Betis managed a consolation goal in the 84th minute when Vitor Roque converted a penalty after a handball was spotted inside the box. However, it was insufficient to challenge Barcelona’s dominance.

With this victory, Barcelona advances to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, maintaining their strong start to 2025. The team’s attacking prowess and depth will be crucial as they continue to compete on multiple fronts this season.
