Besiktas confirms through a press release that Wilfred Ndidi has sustained a hamstring injury after medical examinations.
The Super Eagles captain came off the field in the 85th minute of the derby clash against Fenerbahçe SK on Sunday, April 5, after feeling discomfort in his hamstring.
Subsequent MRI scans at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital reveal a strain accompanied by bleeding in the biceps femoris muscle.
In an official statement, Besiktas revealed that the club’s medical team has started administering treatment on the midfielder.
Fenerbahçe secured a 1-0 victory over Beşiktaş in the derby, after Kerem Aktürkoğlu converted a controversial penalty deep into second-half stoppage time.
Meanwhile, Wilfred Ndidi picked up his fourth booking of the season in the 52nd minute, which rules the defensive midfielder out of Besiktas’ upcoming clash with Antalyaspor regardless of his fitness.
Wilfred Ndidi had previously received cautions in games against Eyupspor, Kocaelispor, and Kasimpasa.
Ndidi has featured in 26 matches across the Super Lig, UEFA Champions League qualifiers, and Turkish Cup, scoring two goals since joining the Black Eagles last summer.
